Boontje Advocaten & Mediators was founded in 2001 and, as a niche firm, focuses entirely on employment law. Boontje has grown to become the largest employment law firm in the Netherlands. In addition to general knowledge of employment law, each of our solicitors has one or more specific areas of expertise. With twelve specialist practice groups, we provide our clients with tailor-made services. Where necessary, we ensure the involvement of specialists from other practice groups through our internal cooperation.
At Boontje, we have an eye for the bigger picture. We distinguish ourselves by looking beyond the legal frameworks. For example, since September 2025, we have had Prof. Femke Laagland as an advisor to our firm. In addition, Boontje has developed its own style and vision of the legal profession, partly inspired by the ideas of mediation and coaching.

Vanaf het begin onderscheidt Boontje zich door een nauwe verbinding met de wetenschap. Adviseur prof. Cees Loonstra bouwde de brug tussen theorie en praktijk. Recent trad prof. Femke Laagland in zijn voetsporen.
Ook binnen ons team staat inhoudelijke ontwikkeling centraal. Zo promoveerde Björn Schouten op een arbeidsrechtelijk proefschrift en verzorgen meerdere collega’s onderwijs aan de universiteit. Door te doceren, publiceren en actief bij te dragen aan de rechtsvorming, blijven we scherp en nauw betrokken bij de laatste ontwikkelingen in het arbeidsrecht.
